This intriguing cased Bartholomew Stenograph features a fold-up armature holding the metal spool for the paper tape and a telescoping middle key that slides forward when in operation. The image below shows the spool folded down and the middle key pushed back, allowing the lid to close.
The Stenograph frame is made of brass and is screwed into the inside of the case, designed not to be removed when in use.
The last patent date shown is November 16, 1886.
This is the only known example of its kind and may be a prototype.
