The Standard Folding was the predecessor of the very popular folding Corona 3. The Standard Folding, with an aluminum frame and carriage only weighs 5 1/2 lbs. The carriage is hinged and folds forwards, coming to rest on top of the keyboard, in order to fit in the smallest case possible. The folded state is shown in the detail below. Model 1 is very similar to model 2 but has one shift key on either side of the keyboard, whereas model 2 has both shift keys on the left hand side of the keyboard. The Standard Folding types well and with the attributes of weight and size became the first successful portable, keyboard typewriter, of the 19th century. Detailed Typewriter Image
