A simple index typewriter, with the right hand moving the index pointer while the left hand controls the print, space, and shift keys. An interesting design feature of this machine is that the whole carriage is hinged and rocks forwards to make contact with the type-wheel, which is under the nickel-plated disc. An inked ribbon 'curtain' drops down (now missing) from the edge of the disc, brushing against the type-wheel as it turns. The second ad below shows the Champion typewriter, a later version of the Peoples with standard ribbon spools now attached.Detailed Typewriter Image
